Dumbbell Step Ups

Master unilateral leg strength. Ensure your knee tracks correctly and you aren't pushing off the back leg.

Instructions

  • Place one foot firmly on bench/box.
  • Drive through the heel of the top foot to stand up.
  • Bring other knee up (optional) or tap box.
  • Lower effectively, controlling with the top leg.
  • Bottom leg should not push off.

Common Mistakes

  • Pushing off the bottom leg (cheating)
  • Knee caving inward
  • Torso pitching forward
  • Box too high (rounding back)
